A few months ago, one of the boys in our local community, who had passed the 12 grade exams but couldn’t find work anywhere, approached us with a proposal. He was interested in becoming a chef but lacked funds to attend a 3 month course of study in professional cooking. Without the course he could not find work and without work he could not afford the course. Because of the generous support of our donors, we had the cash available for him in our Community Assistance Program and sent him on his way to Phnom Penh, with the agreement that if he did not finish the course he would have to pay the money back.
We are very pleased to report that he has not only graduated from the course but is now employed and working at one of the restaurants in Phnom Penh. We are grateful to all of you who have made this possible.
