Markers of an Evil Empire

electric-poleIt has followed me most of my life and even though I have tried to get away from it, I find there is no escape… it always finds me wherever I go. Everyone else is excited about it and they try to convince me of it goodness, but that is only because they don’t know the evil that always accompanies it.

I captured it here in this picture, coming down the dirt road on the right. Our new dorm is sitting to the Left and in a week or so they will hand over the keys. When they do I will give you a photo tour of place but for now this will have to do.

I am sure when it comes in its fullness, I will again indulge in it’s pleasurable comforts. A simple fan will be the first of these, to help sleep on those long-hot-muggy nights, next maybe a refrigerated box, then a night light, and before very long The Television.

The electric poles you see in this picture look so natural that you may have missed them at first… but for those of us who have tried to escape them, they are markers of a conquering Evil Empire that will, in a very short time, destroy yet another Culture that has lived by the hours of the Sun.

  • Wow… is right! I go away for a few weeks and all heck breaks loose…!!! Wait, wait – I’ll be back in 10 days or so… a few last candle-light evenings, please!

  • Nothing to do with electricity, but I love the sky in the background.Beautiful cloud formations,as an artist I am looking forward to make lots of photographs for reference when I am in Cambodia.

When I was last in Cambodia I took a sun set trip down the floating village in Siem Reap. I felt regret for taking the trip . I it felt wrong for me to be looking at how people on this river existed in a way that was so much of a poorer existance than I would ever experience in my home land…It felt like being at a zoo……….BUT when the sun had finally set the boat driver took me back up the river …and What did I see !!! to my dismay!! was river some boat houses full with people all staring at a box that was showing programes of mostly unhealthy untrue realities.
Television is great as a tool for viewing programmes of healthy interests and learning. My lastest saying at present is …”Just because we can does not mean we have to.” Watch out for the Evil TV when it tries to take you on….It seems it is wanting World Domination…Ha ha
