I tell the stories of Miracles in my lifetime often and wrote about some of them in My Journey. They are always a source of personal comfort and encouragement whenever I share them. At times I have been the recipient and at other times only a player in someone else’s Miracle, but they do happen all the time. Many people however, do not experience Miracles; simply because they surround them self with a protection plan that eliminates the need for them. 

The Miracle of Nothing is perhaps one of my favorite to tell, because it shows GOD at His Best. It was difficult for me to understand at first and I was sure there was some mistake, but when I finally got it, I realized that The GOD of the Universe had just Personally intervened in an extraordinary way, just to answer my stupid question… but let me start from the beginning:

I have lived on Faith since the age of 27 and although at times things got rough, I have always managed to get by without getting into debt. A part of my Vow was that I would never ask for things directly from people, but always be happy with what ever GOD provided.  Most of the time I am happy… but there are of course, times when I get a little jealous of other people, who seem to be getting more than me. On one of these occasions I was sharing the responsibility for the cost of building and running the AIDS Hospice and my co-worker, who always asked for funds, was always able to raise much more than I could. I finally decided to put GOD to a test and so I prayed very earnestly for Him to prove to me that He was really in control of my finances.

Since we both received our funds from the same organization and they were deposited in the same bank account each month, I always knew how much came in. I wrote one of my best newsletters ever and sent it out with a Prayer that GOD would Bless it and through it, prove to me that He was in control.

In the weeks that followed, I contemplated the results and decided that even if I could only tie the amount of my co-worker, it would be prove that GOD had Blessed my request, because I had never before been able to do it. I knew GOD was capable of doing much more however and secretly hoped He would double the amount of my co-worker.

We went to the bank together and each of us asked if our bank transfer had come in. My co-worker’s funds were there and it was for a sizeable amount, but for some reason mine had not yet arrived. I assumed that maybe so much had come in that they had not yet counted it all and left the bank feeling good. There was no question in my mind that it would be coming in, because even if no donations had come, I still had three automatic deposits each month that amounted to a total of $80.00. Three days later it still had not arrived and so I decided to contact the office.

“Nothing has come in.” was the reply.

“And the automatic deposits?” I asked, disbelievingly.

“Absolutely nothing has come in to your account.” was the response.

I walked out of the Internet Shop in a state of confusion. ‘How could it be that nothing had come in?’ It didn’t make any sense at all… until I rethought my Prayer… “Prove to me that You are in control.”

Who but GOD could keep the people on my mailing list from donating to a well written newsletter and at the same time make three automatic deposits, from different people in different parts of the country, all stop in the same month? I later found out that all of them had either changed banks or had canceled their accounts but the fact remained that GOD had answered my Prayer. If I had received $1.00 or $100,000.00 I would have taken partial credit because of my newsletter, but to receive absolutely nothing could only mean one thing. GOD WAS IN CONTROL!

Today I am responsible for the daily needs of over 70 children and still live on that simple Faith that GOD will supply all that I need for each day… and He does! That is not bragging, it is stating a fact. My purpose in sharing this story with you is because I believe strongly that GOD wants all of us to be totally dependent on Him. Just as He delivered Manna one day at a time in the desert, He wants us to trust Him one day at a time with our livelihood, and the best way of showing Him that we really do trust Him, is by living without a protection plan, content with whatever He gives us each day. I know this goes against everything the Western Society teaches… yet I truly believe that if one wants to fully experience the Miracle of GOD’S Love in their life, it is the only way that it can be done.
