For the past several years we have had Mr. Rint Hoeut, one of Cambodia’s finest artists, coming on weekends to teach our children creativity through Art and to instruct them in how to develop good Values for their life.
His last day was Sunday past and he ended his time with them by encouraging them to continue with the things that he had taught them.
He will be missed greatly… but the program will continue under one of his best students, and a past resident of Wat Opot, Mr. Nhahn Porn, who is presently studying Art at the Royal University.
Mr. Hoeut’s most important legacy however will be the confidence he has given our children to take on any project, no matter how big it is.
Their creativity can be seen in the artwork that adorns the walls of most of our buildings and in the daily drawings our children present to us.
Awakening creativity in children and giving them the means and opportunity to express themselves is one of the greatest callings one can have. Mr. Hoeut has accomplished that in our children and we wish him well as he begins a new adventure with other children in a new setting.
