There was an ugly piece of land behind the kitchen that could be ignored before the sidewalks were put in… it was filled in mainly with garbage and trash over the years and therefore not much good for growing anything and so we decided to make it a flower garden.
Thear, the boy on the cover of Rocket Made of Ice and the one holding up the picture, came for a visit and someone suggested we do a statue like on the cover of the book.
I didn’t think it would be possible but Samahn, our Art teacher and a student at the Royal University, said he could do it and he would be able to get credit for it.
I wasn’t to sure they could do it but as work progressed I realized I had again underestimated them.
It took a lot of hands and several weeks but the statue is finally finished.
And Rocket Boy now reminds us daily to not worry and just be Happy.
Thanks to all of you who make it possible for us to live and work together in the Wat Opot Children’s Community!
