Testimonials

Many, many people have visited Wat Opot over the years… whether it be for a few hours or a few months – some even longer. If you are one of these people, please sign our guestbook! Be sure to give the dates of your visit, and tell us about your experience.

The guestbook entries appear after the information form below.

So that we can preserve a “real” guestbook feel for this page, when you write to us, please include:

  1. Your name
  2. The dates you visited Wat Opot
  3. Your testimonial (your feelings about your visit)
  4. Whether or not you’d like your email address to appear with your entry

A few hints on guestbook etiquette:

  1. Please make sure your message is an account of your visit to Wat Opot.
  2. Please only sign this guestbook once; you can ask to have the information changed if necessary (just write to admin@watopot.org). In any case, your submission will be reviewed by the site administrators before it’s published.
  3. Please don’t comment on other people’s posts, in order to avoid the guestbook becoming a discussion forum. Think of it as a paper guestbook, where you can leave your account of your visit, and then read what other people said about theirs.
  4. To comment on other parts of the site, please use the comment fields at the bottom of each post or page.
  5. Remember, if you don’t wish for your email address to be made available to others who are visiting the site, please let us know at the end of your message; otherwise, it will appear on your post.
  6. Write from the heart… we love to hear about what being with us meant to you!

Have fun!

I arrived in Wat Opot on the 30th of April and left on the 4th of May which was very hard for me, to tell the truth I cried a bit. It was hard leaving this lovable, adorable and energetic kids. I thought of this kids as my brothers and sisters, even as my own kids.Even though all of them would soon leave this world, they're joyful and hopeful faces would shine brightly in this world. This kids changed my perspective in life and they would always be in my heart. I would come back soon. I just want to say thanks to everyone in Wat Opot who welcomed and provided for us during our stayed with my schoolmates and teachers. Wayne is a great man for what he is doing and he should be appreciated. Thank God for everything he has done! I've learned a lot. Isaac

I'm in Wat Opot for 5 days with my school's study tour in late April/ early May 2009. It is actually my first time to physically and mentally 'touch' children that are HIV+. Before I leave Hong Kong, my home, I assume that all the kids will be extremely pale, sick, not willing to move much etc. and will be staying in bed for the whole day. When I arrive at Wat Opot, I realize that I'm totally wrong. All the kids welcome us with a warm hello and crazy hand wave, some boys even try to help us to take our luggages. During our 5 days there, even a little girl who was very weak (as told by Mr. Wayne) is enjoying the games and play with us as if their energy will never be gone. I'm touched by how they treated themselves. When some of the children got hurt and bleed, they may cry as normal kids. However, even better than me, they can bear the pain caused from dealing with their wounds, sometimes even stitches. I never have any stitches but I can imagine how painful it is. They may cry, scream, or whatever like a child, but after the bandage is put on, they start running around, laughing, wanting to play again. We're also told that they already accept death as a part of their lives. If these kids can do it, why can't us? We Hong Kong people are all so lucky that we have enough to eat, to wear, and most importantly a healthy life. Then why can't we just enjoy it without complaining and stuff like that? I believe everyone who have gone there will have the same feelings as I do. So if you, reading this website, want to have a whole new experience - not just some Alaska magnificent sights, northern lights, santa claus village, hawaii, beach and sun etc., do stay in wat opot for at least a couple of days and let these kids teach you!

I visited Wat Opot more then one time in 2008 and 2009. I still visit it. Most of the time is for work reasons, but I always find myself trying to find a new reason to visit this place.
I like so much the energy around and to see the smile from the children and how sweet they are is really a pleasure. Wayne in his peacefull is admirable.
I will never forget this place.

I visited Wat Opot for 3 weeks this March, without knowing what to expect from the experience. I have gained so much appreciation for the children here and for everyone involved in Wayne's project. The stories Wayne shared with me were so touching and will forever imprint on my memory. It's hard to believe the children have endured so much hardship in their short lives when you look and their genuinely happy, loving and hopeful faces. I will always remember my experience at Wat Opot and hope that I can have many more experience as fulfilling as my time there.
See you soon Wat Opot!!

My name is Bonnie Woolley, and I arrived at Wat Opot in September. I can say that my first several months here have been an incredible personal journey... I'm honored and grateful to be able to be a part of this community. Every morning I wake up wondering what the new day will hold - and I'm ALWAYS surprised! :-) I'm very much looking forward to the coming months.
