For several years now Professor Rumiko Akashi, from the Meiji Gakuin University in Japan, has brought some of her students to Wat Opot for a time of interaction with our children. This year, unfortunately, very few of the kids were here because plans had already been made to take them home for a family visit. That didn’t stop the group, however, from coming out and having a good time.
We started by telling the students the history of Wat Opot and than opened it up for questions. There was some difficulty with communication at first but soon there was a good exchange between our older residents and the university students.
They were given a tour of the grounds and then everyone, including our staff, collaborated in making a giant palm tree poster.
It turned out to be a great day for everyone, especially our younger ones, who were having a hard time understanding why all of the other children were able to go home, but not them.
Thanks for stopping by…
The Watopotians!
