Justice and Soul Foundation, along with Kate Korpi Salon, came to Wat Opot for a day of games, beauty and fun. The visit was the brainstorm of StepUp, an initiative started by graduates and students who wanted give back to communities in need. This is a beautiful example of paying it forward!
After 2.5 years of intense study, recent graduate and former Watopotian Srey Oun (a.k.a. Jasmine) suggested they visit her former home and we were overjoyed at the response.
Dressed in their signature black, the culturally diverse group arrived and got right to work setting up shop and encouraging the kids to come get a first class new trim, cut, or style.
While the stylists began to work their magic, other members of the Step Up team performed lice inspection and, if needed, removal.
And yet more members got the kids organized with games.
With all 3 stations busy, the stylists kept at it.
They offered styling tips and gave ‘imaginary’ hair cuts so no one would feel left out!
Although at first thought, a team of stylists brings to mind the girls, our boys were the happiest recipients of style and could not wait to go to school to show off their cool new looks.
Thank you Matthew for bring such an amazing program to Cambodia and for giving Srey Oun the opportunity to prove her unlimited capability and strength to herself because we had known it all along!
Thanks for checking in,
The Watopotians
