Most of these young men were little boys when they came to Wat Opot and they have certainly given me more then enough headaches over the years… but nights like this make it all worth while. The occasion was a celebration for one of them who has completed a two year course in silversmith training. All of them are now a part of the growing number of our children who live in Phnom Penh and are part of our Youth in Transition (YIT) Program run by Mr. Sina (in the striped shirt) who is himself a Watopotian with a university degree in Law. Others at the table are either university students or trainees in trade schools. Several of the YIT members are missing because of work or study conflicts but coming soon will be a group outing at Kep where hopefully all of our children will be able to come together for a day on the beach. We will let you know how that goes in a few weeks.
